Listen to Lara Andallo’s sensual debut EP DIAMONDS & DEJAVU

Lara Andallo celebrates her very first EP DIAMONDS & DEJAVU with a three-day East Coast tour later this year.

Lara Andallo released her debut EP today (February 23rd). DIAMONDS & DEJAVU. The six-track collection includes EP highlight and current single year 3000, In which the Filipino-Australian singer imagines generational equality on a slinky R&B rhythm and soaring chorus. “I wish we had fallen in love in the year 3000.” she sings in the second verse: “If we were more than enough.”

year 3000 — who ponders same-sex romance with emotionally-crafted lyrics — serves as a denial of the alleged appeal of “That old school love, that 90’s love” Andallo explained in a press statement. “For myself as a bisexual woman, I want to love someone at a time when my love is seen as equal and just as valid.” The single is accompanied by a just-released music video that follows Andallo through the throes of a relationship. year 3000 joins companions DIAMONDS & DEJAVU singles Rough diamond, what you want And From head to toe, which similarly demonstrate the singer’s understanding of low-fi and steamy slow-burns. Andallo’s vocals remain an enchanting thread through all the tracks, with the final song meandering around a trap bass as they sway from “Do[ing] it’s how you like it.”

DIAMONDS & DEJAVU will be completed by the remaining tracklist participants In the meantime and the Candy Crushin’/ DEJAVU interlude. In the former, Andallo imagines a perfect partner before turning to self-love candy crushin‘ slows the pace and compares the video game of the same name to a newfound infatuation. At the end of the EP, Andallo “find[s] Power in my openness [and] encompass all my sides,” explained the singer.

She continued: “There is so much power [and] beauty in it.” Celebrating the release of DIAMONDS & DEJAVU, Andallo today announced a three-day East Coast tour, with shows booked for Sydney (May 31), Melbourne (June 1) and Brisbane (June 8). Elsewhere, Andallo provided the chorus at Baker Boy’s 2021 jelly rail Headphones, before touring with the rapper and appearing on WOMAdelaide.
