Lara Andallo celebrates her very first EP DIAMONDS & DEJAVU with a three-day East Coast tour later this year.
Lara Andallo released her debut EP today (February 23rd). DIAMONDS & DEJAVU. The six-track collection includes EP highlight and current single year 3000, In which the Filipino-Australian singer imagines generational equality on a slinky R&B rhythm and soaring chorus. “I wish we had fallen in love in the year 3000.” she sings in the second verse: “If we were more than enough.”
year 3000 — who ponders same-sex romance with emotionally-crafted lyrics — serves as a denial of the alleged appeal of “That old school love, that 90’s love” Andallo explained in a press statement. “For myself as a bisexual woman, I want to love someone at a time when my love is seen as equal and just as valid.” The single is accompanied by a just-released music video that follows Andallo through the throes of a relationship. Check it out below.
year 3000 joins companions DIAMONDS & DEJAVU singles Rough diamond, what you want And From head to toe, which similarly demonstrate the singer’s understanding of low-fi and steamy slow-burns. Andallo’s vocals remain an enchanting thread through all the tracks, with the final song meandering around a trap bass as they sway from “Do[ing] it’s how you like it.”
DIAMONDS & DEJAVU will be completed by the remaining tracklist participants In the meantime and the Candy Crushin’/ DEJAVU interlude. In the former, Andallo imagines a perfect partner before turning to self-love candy crushin‘ slows the pace and compares the video game of the same name to a newfound infatuation. At the end of the EP, Andallo “find[s] Power in my openness [and] encompass all my sides,” explained the singer.
She continued: “There is so much power [and] beauty in it.” Celebrating the release of DIAMONDS & DEJAVU, Andallo today announced a three-day East Coast tour, with shows booked for Sydney (May 31), Melbourne (June 1) and Brisbane (June 8).
