Re “Clean electricity picks up momentum in OC cities despite price hikes” (February 4):
The three cheer for Orange County cities to take the lead in a cleaner and healthier environment. Let’s make those four cheers, because those are the four cities (Buena Park, Fullerton, Huntington Beach and Irvine) leading the way and show the rest of us how to use energy at home through clean electricity. As a climate advocate, rooftop solar user and electric vehicle buyer, I applaud everyone who has taken any steps to mitigate the ill effects of climate change. in places where it is affordable and appropriate. Our health, as well as that of other species that share our planet, depends on reducing carbon emissions. Every section of our society can play an important role in this fight, whether from government legislation and/or from private industry and individual actions. So thank you to the four city councils who recently voted on energy procurement.

COVID-19 policy conflict in California
Recent events in California have exposed a lack of coordination between our state’s elected officials and local elected officials and their national counterparts in combating the COVID-19 pandemic. .
In California, Governor Newsom, Mayor Garcetti and Mayor Breed took off their masks for a photo. Back in Washington, DC, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and many of her colleagues wore masks to pose for a photo.
It is confusing for those of us to look to our elected officials to model proper COVID-19 protocol.

Public Policy Institute survey of Californians
So the California Institute of Public Policy conducted a survey to see what issues Californians care most about.
According to the article, the number one concern is COVID-19, followed by homelessness, crime, the economy, politics, and Governor Newsom’s revocation.
It’s funny, but I don’t see anything about climate change or one-time government health insurance. I guess those issues could have been written in invisible ink.
It just shows how deaf and voiceless our politicians are.
