Lauren Alaina is parting ways with the record label – Billboard

Singer-songwriter Lauren Alaina has parted ways with her longtime record label. billboard has confirmed.

Alaina first shared the news on social media with a lengthy statement thanking UMG Nashville and Mercury Records for being her label from the start of her career after coming in second place in season 10 of would have american idol in 2011 (country entertainer Scotty McCreery was that season’s winner).

“I want to thank the staff at Mercury Records and UMG Nashville for everything they’ve done for me over the past 11 years,” said Alaina. “They have been my label home since the day I left the label american idol Stage as a really young, eager, wide-eyed 16-year-old kid. Now, at 27, I look back and see how much I’ve changed and grown into the woman I am now.”

She added: “I have made the difficult decision to spread my wings and close a very important chapter in my life. There are more exciting things happening in my career now than ever before and I can’t wait to see where it all goes. Lots to share soon. With gratitude and hope, Lauren.”

To date, Alaina has had three #1 hits billboard‘s Country Airplay chart, including two No. 1 hits in 2017: “What Ifs,” featuring Kane Brown, and her solo hit, “Road Less Traveled.” In 2020 she achieved a third chart-topper with “One Beer” alongside HARDY and Devin Dawson. She has garnered accolades along the way, including a win for New Singer of the Year at the 2018 ACM Awards and two CMA nominations for New Artist of the Year. She is also a perennial winner at the CMT Music Awards, winning Breakthrough Video of the Year for “Road Less Traveled” and Collaborative Video of the Year with Brown for “What Ifs.”

Last year Alaina released her third studio album, Sitting pretty on top of the world, which included “Getting Good” with Trisha Yearwood and the Jon Pardi duet “Getting Over Him”. On February 12, Alaina officially became a member of the Grand Ole Opry.

She currently stars in the CBS series alongside compatriot Craig Morgan Beyond the Edgein which nine celebrities face the jungles of Panama and use teamwork and survival instincts to complete daily adventure challenges to raise money for their favorite charities.
