Las Vegas stabbing: at least 6 victims outside casino on Strip; 1 dead, says LVMPD

Las Vegas, Nevada– One person died and at least five others were injured Thursday in what Las Vegas police said was a stabbing at the city’s popular tourist hub.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said its officers responded to a stabbing involving multiple victims outside a casino on the 3100 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard around 11:42 a.m
This block includes the notable casino properties Resorts World Las Vegas and Encore Las Vegas, as well as a nearby shopping street.
LVMPD tweeted that at least six victims were found immediately, one of whom was pronounced dead.
The police department later tweeted that other victims were being transported to area hospitals with an unknown extent of injuries.
A suspect has been arrested and police have closed roads in the area while the investigation continues.
The mass crime event takes place five days away from the area and marks five years since a gunman opened fire on visitors to a country music festival from a high-rise hotel on October 1, 2017.
The incident left 58 dead, marking it as the deadliest mass shooting in US history.
