Sears coached at Laguna Beach from 2008 to 2011, and from 2017 to the 2021 season. Between those times, he coached at Servite.

Sears’ record at Laguna Beach is 143-95.

Segerstrom coach Erasmo Ramirez has coached Sears teams for several years.

“When I started coaching, we had pretty good success,” said Ramirez. “He was always the person I turned to when I had questions about my own baseball program. Such a great coach, such a great person with such a big heart.”

Service information is pending. Selbe said Sears is survived by family members who live near Eugene, Oregon.
