Laguna Beach baseball coach Jeff Sears dies, age 55 – Orange County Register
Laguna Beach baseball coach Jeff Sears passed away on Sunday, January 16. He was 55 years old.
Sears was the Orange County baseball team coach in 2011. He led the Breakers to the league championship that season and in the 2017 and ’18 seasons.
Laguna Beach athletic director Denise Selbe said the Sears family has not yet released a cause of death.
Sears coached at Laguna Beach from 2008 to 2011, and from 2017 to the 2021 season. Between those times, he coached at Servite.
Sears’ record at Laguna Beach is 143-95.

Segerstrom coach Erasmo Ramirez has coached Sears teams for several years.
“When I started coaching, we had pretty good success,” said Ramirez. “He was always the person I turned to when I had questions about my own baseball program. Such a great coach, such a great person with such a big heart.”
Service information is pending. Selbe said Sears is survived by family members who live near Eugene, Oregon.
