Bishop David O’Connell was a personal friend I met during my tenure in Congress. He was an advocate of immigration reform and cared deeply about our most vulnerable. I will miss him very much. I keep his loved ones and parishioners in my thoughts and prayers.

This is LA Aux. Bishop David O’Connell with one of my young clients. Bishop Dave, who was shot dead in his home today, has been there for every child and family I have represented. Always. Helping, supporting and generally being the face of Jesus for me and many many others. pic.twitter.com/zdtEN25DGE

We join @ Archbishop Gomez in mourning the sudden loss of one of our bishops. Bishop O’Connell was an active member of our conference and a champion of the poor and marginalized as past Chair of the Subcommittee @PovertyUSA_CCHD. Rest in peace.
