Kate Forbes: Tories think Scots are stupid with Dog’s Dinner Brexit
The former Scottish Government Finance Minister wrote exclusively in The Herald that the Conservatives’ way of implementing the decision to leave the EU had put Britain on a path of “long-term economic decline”.
Ms Forbes blamed higher prices and weak growth on pro-Brexit supporters, writing that other countries that had recently experienced economic woes had recovered faster.

She said: “The current Prime Minister treats us like idiots and is adamant about tackling inflation as one of his five priorities.”
“But so far it has failed. And let’s not forget, he’s trying to solve a problem his party created. A Boris Johnson Brexit would always have been dog food.”
“We were promised a land of plenty but I can’t see the NHS celebrating the promised £350m. Instead, we regret higher food prices, a dwindling workforce and stagnant wages.”
Boris Johnson: “Dog’s Dinner Brexit”
Ms Forbes, who lost to Humza Yousaf in the SNP top contest, warned little would change if Sir Keir Starmers Labout were to form the next UK government.

She wrote: “Under a Labor government with Keir Starmer as Prime Minister, there is no hope for a better future.” Labor is now a fully-fledged pro-Brexit party and will not accept Scotland back into the European Union, whatever the consequences this will have for the Scottish economy.
The European single market is the largest trading market in the world. It’s also seven times the size of the UK market. Rejoining would open a world of opportunity for Scotland’s world-class food and drink sector.
However, Keir Starmer is adamant that our future lies outside the European Union, which means the fallout from Brexit will only continue and potentially get worse.”
