Kanye West’s Twitter and Instagram have been banned for offensive posts

Kanye West’s Twitter and Instagram accounts have been suspended over anti-Semitic posts by the rapper, now legally known as Ye.

Spokespersons for Twitter and Instagram mother Meta said Sunday that Ye had posted messages that violated their policies.

In a tweet sent out late Saturday, Ye said he will soon go “death toll 3 vs. JEWISH PEOPLE,” according to Internet Archive records. This is an apparent reference to the US military readiness scale known as DEFCON.

In the same tweet, which was removed from Twitter, he said, “You guys have been playing with me and trying to blackmail anyone who goes against your agenda.”

Earlier this month, Ye was criticized for wearing a White Lives Matter t-shirt with his collection at Paris Fashion Week.

Rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs posted a video on Instagram saying he doesn’t endorse the shirt and urging people not to buy it.

According to media reports, Ye posted a screenshot of a text conversation with Diddy on Instagram and implied that he was being controlled by Jews.

According to their policies, the two social networks prohibit the posting of offensive language. Yes’s Twitter account is still active, but he will not be able to post until the indefinite period of suspension ends.

Meta, which owns both Facebook and Instagram, will sometimes impose restrictions on accounts it believes are repeatedly violating its rules. The sanctions may include temporary restrictions on posting, commenting, or sending direct messages.

Ye had returned to Twitter on Saturday after a nearly two-year hiatus, reportedly after Instagram suspended his account.

Tesla’s billionaire CEO Elon Musk, who last week renewed his $44 billion bid to buy Twitter after a month-long legal battle with the company, welcomed Ye’s return to the platform before his suspension with a tweet: “Welcome back on Twitter, my friend.”

Musk has said he would make Twitter a free speech space and ease restrictions, though it’s impossible to know exactly how he’d run the influential network if he took over.
