Julia Wandt’s statement was released after DNA results show she is not Madeleine McCann – but questions remain

A STATEMENT has now been released after DNA results proved Julia Wandt is not Madeleine McCann.
In recent months, the 21-year-old has taken to social media claiming she is the missing girl.

Julia claimed she had facial features similar to the missing Maddie and suffered from an abusive childhood, which caused her to begin to question her parentage.
The case was handled by private detective Dr. Fia Johansson, who then flew the woman from Poland to Los Angeles.
dr Johansson arranged for Julia to give samples to the US for detailed DNA testing — including a DNA test similar to a 23andMe test that established her parentage.
The findings were released this morning, and a statement from the private investigator was quickly released in the hours that followed.
It turned out that Julia, who also goes by the surnames Wendell and Faustyna, is not Maddie, who disappeared from her family’s Portuguese vacation home in 2007.
dr Johansson wrote on Instagram: “Finally we know the reality.
“Although it’s impossible to say for sure without DNA results from parents on both sides, the test results speak to the origins of Julia’s root.”
She explained that the results showed the 21-year-old is from Poland, with some Lithuanian and Romanian roots.
dr Johansson wrote: “The DNA test results showed no connection to British or even German roots.
“This story is much more complicated than a simple girl from a small town in Poland who claims to get attention.
“She really believed what she said and with so many questions about her childhood it’s easy to understand where she came from.
“What is amazing is the parents’ refusal to resolve this nagging question for Julia. A simple DNA test of the parents would have solved many questions for Julia.
“In any case, after the revelation, she decided to be back with her father. I personally wish her all the best.”
Julia asked for a DNA test after saying she was Madeleine and wanted to get in touch with Kate and Gerry McCann.
However, their DNA was not compared to that of the McCanns.
Julia was brought to the US after being bombarded with threats – with a message even claiming she had a €30,000 bounty on her head.
dr Johansson also spent nearly a week in Poland investigating Julia’s claims and trying to get her parents to take a DNA test.
