Judge in 22-inch zombie knife murder case pleads lethal weapons before jury

A JUDGE has asked jurors in a 22-inch zombie knife murder case to write their deputies about how easy it is to buy deadly weapons.

Christine Laing KC spoke out after the jury unanimously convicted Emadh Miah, 18, of the killing of Ghulam Sadiq.

The judge told them, “I encourage you to write to your MP and say, ‘Why are these so easy to buy?’

“Knife crime is becoming the scourge of our society, but right now people can get guns like this – it’s really quite shocking.”

The trial at the Old Bailey had heard that Miah, from Solihull, West Mids, had assaulted Mr Sadiq near the victim’s home in Leytonstone, east London, in August.

He chased the 18-year-old and stabbed him in the back with the zombie-like machete.

Miah had admitted manslaughter but denied it was murder, claiming he suffered from a mental disorder.

Judge Laing adjourned the case for sentencing.

Miah is also convicted of a hammer attack on a 16-year-old boy in March 2021, for which he was convicted in June.
