The former two-time light heavyweight champion ate a low blow early on before getting Gane on the floor and starting to work on submissions.

In just over two minutes, he was tipped off by the Frenchman to become the UFC two-weight champion, cementing his greatest-ever status after years of debate.

Jones was emotional during his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan.

He said: “I’m so excited. I’ve been working on that for a long time. You know, a lot of people thought I would never come back, but I stayed true to my goal and my mission.”

The 35-year-old expressed interest in fighting former two-time heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic, with whom he was previously closely linked, in July.
