Johnson warns left has ‘infiltrated’ key US institutions, while GOP warns of arming government

EXCLUSIVE: Senator Ron Johnson, R-Wis., says the left has “infiltrated” key US institutions and as a result is controlling key narratives in a way he says is destructive to the country, as leading Republicans raise alarms about the alleged arming beat the US government.
“I think my main point is that the left has infiltrated the big institutions in this country pretty well, starting with our university system, and that’s just spread, and now they control the narrative and they’re using their control, that narrative on a lot destructive way,” Johnson said in an interview with Fox News Digital on Friday.
Johnson was speaking after testifying before the federal government’s Select Subcommittee on the Weaponizaton on Thursday. The subcommittee heard from senior lawmakers, FBI officials and legal experts about how the Justice Department has allegedly targeted the civil liberties of American citizens.
Johnson had warned that “corrupt individuals” within federal agencies function as “vital partners in the left-wing political movement, which includes most members of the mainstream media, big tech social media giants, global institutions and foundations, activists of the… Democratic Party and elected officials belong.”

Johnson said he first saw such collaboration in the Tea Party movement, when the Obama administration was accused of arming the IRS to deny groups tax-exempt status.
Conservatives have since pointed to the FBI’s involvement in the probe into alleged Russian involvement in the 2016 election – which Johnson called “the most destructive political dirty trick in US history” – and then to the narrative surrounding Hunter Biden’s laptop and foreign deals, which was falsely dubbed a Russian misinformation operation by mainstream media and former intelligence officials.
Johnson has also claimed his investigation into Hunter Biden’s dealings was sabotaged by what he believed to be a coordinated effort by government bodies. Speaking to Fox News Digital, Johnson described a “concerted effort by a number of actors to undermine and sabotage our efforts, calling it Russian disinformation.”
He referred to Senator Chuck Grassley’s remarks at the hearing, in which the senator described a “triad of disinformation and outright falsehoods” by the FBI, partisan media and some Democrats.
Johnson told Fox that he was “not talking about the vast majority of men and women who carry out their duties with honor, patriotism and integrity. In the government.”
“I’m talking about the corrupt individuals,” he said.
Conservative focus on left-wing arming of government has not only increased with the Hunter-Biden saga, but also with the release of the Twitter Files — revelations from Twitter about its work with government agencies over the past few years.
Johnson pointed to these revelations showing how government officials were controlling the narrative surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.
“With the release of the Twitter files and Missouri and Louisiana’s lawsuit against the Biden administration, we are getting a clearer picture of how active government officials have been in suppressing free speech and controlling narrative,” he said in his statement.

Rep. Jim Jordan, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, said Thursday that during his time in Congress “I’ve never seen anything like it,” noting that the concerns aren’t unique to the FBI.
“Americans have concerns about double standards in the Justice Department. Americans have concerns about the Disinformation Governance Board the Department of Homeland Security was trying to create. Americans have concerns about the ATF and what they are doing with the Second Amendment. And, of course, they have concerns about the IRS and the thousands of new agents coming to this organization,” he said.

“And finally, there are concerns about what we learned in the Twitter files, where big governments and big tech worked together to shape and shape the narrative and suppress information and censor Americans,” he said.
Democrats on the committee pushed back, with subcommittee ranking member Rep. Stacey Plaskett, DV.I., accusing Republicans of “arming Congress” and expressing concern that the subcommittee was “used as a place to settle.” of bills and presenting conspiracy theories” and promoting an extreme agenda that risks undermining Americans’ confidence in our democracy.”
