Joey Barton arrived at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Friday morning where he is charged with assault.
Mr Barton is due to appear in court after his wife, Georgia Barton, sustained a head injury in an incident on June 2, 2021.
His trial was delayed after Ms Barton wrote a letter to prosecutors defending her husband and saying she was accidentally injured when friends intervened in the dispute.
The case has now been adjourned until June 23.
Bristol Rovers, the football team managed by Mr Barton, declined to comment while the court case is ongoing.
