Jennifer Coolidge said she was surrounded by gay people in a beautiful speech at the GLAAD Media Awards.
Kicking off the ceremony on Thursday (March 30), the actress and mother-in-law opened her speech by saying, “Here I am again, surrounded by gay people! It’s the story of my life.”
Beloved by the queer community, Jennifer Coolidge has found herself once again at the forefront of our cultural psyche in her role as petty widow Tanya McQuoid The White Lotus. And on Thursday night she paid it all back.
“I have so much respect for the LGBTQ+ community and just want you all to know that I love you and thank you for always being there for me and that’s why I’m here because I want to give back,” said Coolidge.
“I believe that we all have the right to be who we are and to love the people we love and tell our stories and celebrate that in any way we can – and that’s what GLAAD is about Media Awards really.”
Coolidge continued her touching tribute by thanking the queer community for being themselves and for “inspiring” them, concluding her speech by saying, “Now let’s really have some fun.”
In a very special surprise for the assembled homosexuals, Coolidge was then joined on stage by Jane Lynch, perhaps best known for playing the abusive coach Sue Sylvester Joy.
Lynch, who played Coolidge’s wife in the 2000 film best on showpresented Coolidge with a surprising award.
“This beautiful woman right here was pro-gay before it was cool to be pro-gay,” Lynch said.
“She’s one of us, and I’ve always said the world needs to catch up with Jennifer Coolidge – and the world has caught up with Jennifer Coolidge!”

Jennifer Coolidge won hearts and praise for her role as Tanya McQuoid The White Lotus – which received the GLAAD Awards for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.
She snagged an Emmy, a Golden Globe and more for that performance in what can only be described as Jennaissance.
And while the gays in the Mike White-created dramedy tried to murder her, in real life they stood up for her, bestowing her the prestigious title of Mother, among other honors.

Although her character in The White Lotus infamously swimming with the fish after a high-stakes escape attempt from a boat of murderous homosexuals, the show itself is confirmed as a return.
After visiting Hawaii in season one and Italy in season two, Thailand seems to be next on the bucket list.
According to Variety, “multiple sources close to production” have confirmed the South Asian country as the location, though HBO has so far declined to comment.
Series writer Mike White has previously hinted at taking the show to a brand new continent.
“The first season was about money, and the second season is about sex… I think maybe the third season would be a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality,” White revealed after the Season 2 finale in December.
“It feels like taking another lap at White Lotus could be a rich carpet.”
