James Gunn’s critics want to derail the ‘The Flash’ hype train

Notwithstanding the regular behind-the-scenes issues, a constant throughout production The Lightning is hearsay that it has the potential to be one of the greatest superhero movies ever made.
Given the sheer volume of writers, directors, and various other creative talents that have traversed the project over the years — not to mention several sweeping changes that have been made to the Warner Bros. and DC boardrooms — it’s crazy to think that the end result could be nearly a decade of nagging issues.
James Gunn seems to think so anyway, after the notoriously direct-spoken co-CEO came right out and called The Lightning one of the prettiest costumed capers he’s ever seen. Of course there are a lot of people who hope he’s telling the truth, but there are bound to be many who don’t care what that is Protector of the Galaxy Director must say.
We’re a little over 24 hours away from the first trailer to debut during the Super Bowl, and there’s every reason to believe The Lightning will leave pine on the ground. They don’t internally tout a mega-budget comic book adaptation as one of the best of all time without at least pointing it out in the footage, so you can bet it’ll be the biggest talking point outside of football to come out of the game.
Needless to say, it won’t do anything to dampen the criticism pointed in Gunn’s direction, most of which has come down to him not being Zack Snyder and little else.
