James Gunn makes a point of highlighting his dominance at Sunday’s Super Bowl

Super Bowl Sunday was a great night for James Gunn. The director wowed audiences with the trailer for his MCU swan song Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and the incredible new The Lightning Trailer hints he’ll have a bright future at DC. So, understandably, he just rides up the ranks after confirming (as if it needed to) that social media traffic to both companies’ social media heroes has skyrocketed:
But during Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 A Gunn film through and through, it’s harder to make a case for it The Lightning. The film had a famously tormented development, production and post-production, with Gunn taking over his role as DCU head honcho after the film was essentially wrapped.
On the other hand, this will get him some credit if it’s a hit, or wash his hands of the “old” DCEU and further his case for change if it flops. Anyway, it’s a good time to be James Gunn.
The answers agree, although inevitably there are still the endless calls to bring back the Snyderverse. we loved Zack Snyder’s Justice League but the chances of a follow-up ever coming are slim now that Gunn is determined to vacate the house:
Gunn will do what he was hired to do and radically shape the DCU, although it seems Snyder has landed his dream job at Netflix making his space opera epic rebel moon. Remember that the important part of the “Snyderverse” is the “Snyder”, not the “verse”.
