Later in the evening, a Kashmiri pundit, 35-year-old Bal Krishan, was shot and injured late by suspected terrorists in Chotigam, Shopian district, officials said, adding he was taken to the district hospital.
The new wave of attacks came amid heightened security measures for the ongoing tourism season and the upcoming Amarnath Yatra.
CRPF personnel were attacked Monday afternoon near the busy Maisuma area of Srinagar where they were stationed as part of daily security routines. Police officials said two CRPF men were injured when unknown assailants fired on them.
They were taken to a hospital, but one of them died from his injuries. The police and paramilitaries immediately launched a search of the area to apprehend the attackers. Kashmiri political parties condemned this attack on CRPF personnel.
