ISP: Ohio man arrested after driving nearly three times the legal alcohol limit in Whitley County

WHITLEY COUNTY, Indiana (WANE) — A man from Akron, Ohio has been charged with multiple felonies after reportedly driving through Whitley County at nearly three times the legal alcohol limit, according to the Indiana State Police (ISP).

On Friday morning, a State Trooper noticed the suspect, 31-year-old Alex J. Kincaid, who was reportedly speeding 22 miles per hour on State Route 9 near County Road 500 N.

During a traffic stop, the state trooper learned that Kincaid and his family were traveling to Columbia City for a funeral, but the officer also noted that Kincaid reportedly showed “very obvious” physical signs that he was under the influence of alcohol, according to the ISP.

During the traffic stop, ISP said Kincaid reportedly dumped what turned out to be a vaping device containing a “suspected THC liquid” in a nearby ditch.

Authorities took Kincaid into custody after the traffic disruption and later performed a chemical breath test that reportedly returned a result of 0.21%, according to the ISP.

After the chemical test, authorities transported Kincaid to the Whitley County Jail, where he now faces the following charges:

– Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) with juvenile passengers, a level 6 crime

– Obstruction of Justice, a level 6 crime

– OWI with a BrAC of 0.15% or more, a Class A offence

– Possession of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor
