Release of the latest sugar production Pay, Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA) said: “News from international trading houses indicates that the world market expects 85 lakh-tonnes of sugar exports Indiain the current season.”
According to the industry association, sugar production reached 309.87 lakh tons by March of the current 2021-22 marketing year, up from 278.71 lakh tons in the same period last year.
According to ISMA data, sugar production will be Maharasthra rose to 118.81 lakh ton by March from 100.47 lakh ton in the same period last year.
In Uttar Pradesh, sugar production remained lower at 87.50 lakh tons through March this year, compared to 93.71 lakh tons in the same period last year.
Sugar production in Karnataka, the country’s third-largest sugar-producing state, rose sharply to 57.65 lakh-tonnes by March from 42.38 lakh-tonnes in the same period last year.
On the ethanol front, contrary to the entire Letter of Intent (LoI) for shipments of 416.33 billion liters, ISMA said 131.69 billion liters of ethanol had been shipped as of March 27 this year.
The contracted volume as of this writing is 402.66 million liters versus LoIs of about 416 million liters issued by oil marketing companies, it said.
The country averaged a blending percentage of 9.60 percent between December 2021 and March 2022, it added.
