IPL 2022 points table, orange cap and purple cap:

The twelfth game of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 took place on Monday between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The new franchise clinched their second straight win by a margin of 12 runs at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.

The side led by KL Rahul initially struggled after another poor performance on the power play with the racquet. The skipper led from the front, registering his 50th fifty in the shortest format of the game while Deepak Hooda controlled the other end. Despite a small dip in death overs, LSG hung up 169 in their 20 overs.

Meanwhile, SRH’s new opening combination once again failed to impress. Tripathi led the charge in the middle overs but the team’s pursuit was marred by a narrow ban from Krunal Pandya, who also won two crucial wickets.

The Army of Orange appeared to be tacking at one point, with Nicholas Pooran leading the charge. However, LSG’s excellent Death Bowling changed the course of the game.

IPL 2022 Updated points table

With the second win in a row, LSG rose to fifth place in the points table. 12-run margin also slightly improved their net run rate to .193.

SRH remains rooted in last place on the points table. However, given the rather small loss margin compared to her hit against RR, her net run rate has improved significantly to -1.825. Despite this improvement, they still have the worst net run rate of any franchise.

IPL 2022 Orange Cap list updated

KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda’s match-saving efforts in the first innings are rewarded with a top-five finish on the Orange Cap list.

Both batters now have two fifties under their belts. LSG captain KL Rahul seems to have found his rhythm after a first-ball duck at the start of the season.

IPL 2022 Purple Cap list updated

Avesh Khan shot to second place in the Purple Cap race with a 4-24 match winner under his belt. The youngster took two wickets each in the power play and in the death overs to give LSG two crucial points.
