dr Caitlin Bernard – an Indiana abortion provider who did national headlines Earlier this year when she publicly confirmed that she is treating a 10-year-old rape victim— was forced to testify in her defense during Indiana this week Attorney General Todd Rokita‘s (R) Bullshit Consumer Complaints Inquiry Against Bernard.

“There is no evidence that a crime was committed” to allow the child to have an abortion, Bernard said during her nearly 90-minute testimony Monday Associated Press. “So no investigation should be necessary.”

To Roe v. calf tipped over, Bernard announced IndyStar in July that they aborted a 10-year-old rape victimwho was an Ohio resident but had to travel across state lines after Ohio’s early abortion ban went into effect immediately after roe Reversal. Top Fox News presenters suggested that Bernard is lying and had political motives. Jesse Watters called story a “hoax‘, and Tucker Carlson said it: ‘turned out the story wasn’t true.” The story was true, and the accused child rapist was arrested days later.

After Fox’s attack, Bernard became a target for the right. “I’m concerned not only about my reputation and what that might mean for my job, but also about my personal safety,” said Bernard IndyStar.

This is how anti-abortion zealots attack abortion providers in a non-violent way. Do you have enough to pay the legal fees? Do you think you’ll get a job afterwards? And that’s before we look at all the actual violence Abortion providers are threatened with it.

Rather than leave this case in the past, Rokita is attempting to access the 10-year-old’s records as part of his investigation, which stems from complaints from people who are not Bernard’s patients.

“100% of the consumer complaints were filed by people who met Dr. Bernard had never met the never received medical care from Dr. Bernard and were in no way involved in the care of this patient,” Kathleen Delaney, Bernard’s attorney, said in a news conference Friday. “They’re complaining about something they’ve seen on TV or heard on social media.”

Indiana Assistant Attorney General Caryn Nieman-Szyper told the court that state law requires Indiana’s child protection services to be notified of child abuse, even if the case is already being investigated in Ohio. Officials also allege that Bernard violated state abortion reporting requirements. However, public records show that Bernard reported the abortion within three days, as required by state law.

Nieman-Szyper also said Bernard is being investigated because she spoke publicly about the case and said she had not provided sufficient evidence that she had permission to do so from the family.

Bernard claimed that she did not release any identifying details and merely shared the facts of the case: “I said the patient was raped. This is how a 10-year-old gets pregnant.” Indiana doctor ordered to testify about abortion of 10-year-old rape victim
