In the latest trailer for Smile, the widest grin cuts the deepest

Finally a horror film that New Yorkers can really stand behind. to smileParamount Pictures’ latest attempt at horror is based on the premise that someone who just happens to smile at you is one of the most insulting and scary things there is.and the studio certainly stands up to prove its point. Fresh off a creepy Jumbotron based marketing stunt at three different Major League Baseball games this past weekend, to smile has one final trailer for your viewing pleasure ahead of the film’s September 30th premiere.
Mare by Easttown Alum Sosie Bacon stars to smile as dr Rose Cotter, a doctor with some questions about her own mental health. As we soon learn, Rose has some questions that the DSM-5 can’t answer exactly; She has seen an evil entity manifesting as an overly wide, Joker-like smile.
As the trailer begins, Rose visits a male prison inmate who she believes may hold the key to her unique problem he is the only person who has seen and lived this being. Unfortunately, once the inmate realizes Rose saw what he saw, his only answers for her are to yell violently at Rose to get away from him.
Whatever Rose contracted, it’s hard on jumpscares and easy on borders; She begins to see that smiles possess everyone, from patients at her workplace to a whole group of kids at a party. A special trailer jump scare (which we won’t spoil) takes the stress of having someone knocking on your car window to a new level.
Similar to The ring, A missed call, truth or Dare and so many before that, the flesh of to smileRose’s plot involves Rose’s race to end the curse before it catches up to her. If she’s not careful, her perpetually horrified expression (expertly rendered by Bacon) could morph into the world’s least cheering grin.
