I’m a driving expert – that’s why you don’t have to stop at all red lights

A DRIVER EXPERT revealed why drivers don’t have to stop at all red lights.
During a driving lesson, the driving instructor initially confused the learner driver by telling her to keep going – although it appeared the red light they were approaching meant she should slow down and stop.

The video shows the learner driver slowing down as she approaches a red light, but her instructor tells her to keep going.
The learner was confused when she thought she had to stop the car.
Driving instructor @clearviewdriving uploaded the video to TikTok with the caption “Do not stop at a red light without a solid stop line (except for temporary roadworks).”
When the learner driver stopped the car at the traffic light, the driving instructor said, “This is not for you.
Erin replied, “But it’s a red light.”
“No, this red light does not apply to you.
“But I’ll get to that in a moment.”
Then, when a pedestrian crossed, the instructor said, “Don’t rush, just let him cross.
Clear View Driving’s instructor told Sun Online, “In that clip, we were mid-corner when Erin noticed the red light.
“But the red light was NOT for us, it was for traffic that is already on the main road; they waited in the distance before the crossing behind us.
“This red light is known as a repeat light, which only applies to traffic that is already before that light. My learner driver noticed it as we turned in.
“If there was traffic behind us when we stopped, it would completely block the intersection.
“Also the vehicles behind us could get into a collision as they don’t expect to stop there.
“We should not stop at this point as there is no solid line as we are at the intersection.”
The video went viral on social media with thousands of views – and most users were shocked to find out why the learner shouldn’t have stopped at the traffic light.
One said: “I am an experienced driver and that would confuse me a lot. I would like to know who this applies to.”

Another said: “I can see why she thought that.”
A third pointed out: “Why the traffic light faces the car is confusing.”
