I was homeless and hopping from job to job after the tragedy struck…now I’m making £800k a year from my VERY rude business

AFTER being homeless and overwhelmed by tragedy, an enterprising woman has turned an adult shop into a booming business.

Tami Rose, from Mississippi, USA, opened Romantic Adventures in 2009 and has since made £800,000 a year.

Despite the closure of many small storefronts due to the retail apocalypse, which intensified during Covid, Tami’s business has tripled.

While her close friends were passing judgment, the Navy veteran risked the sex toy business, which is now thriving.

Tami told the Daily Star: “I’m old enough to know better, but young enough to do it anyway.”

She soon had a knack for the industry and turned over £408,000 after her first year of trading.

The following year she made a profit of over £61,000.

However, the woman wasn’t always successful and admitted that she struggled in her formative years.

She joined the Navy at 17 because she couldn’t afford further education and it was the best way for her to get a college degree.

She said: “My family were workers and they did their best for me, but I wanted to do my own college bills.

“I actually got a college education and a year of law school, which was long enough to find out it wasn’t for me.

“While I value my time at Baylor, I feel that life at the company would be tantamount to death.

“That’s probably how I got into the sex toy business and loved it so much.”

Tragically, Tami lost “the love of her life” after only two and a half months of marriage while on duty.

It inspired her to become a religious corporal in the Navy, which involved informing widows that their spouses had died in combat.

After her time in the armed forces, she opened a spa business that was later destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.

She said: “I didn’t go into the adult business straight out of the Navy.

“I actually moved through a few sales jobs and then got my certification in massage therapy.

“[This was] another factor that helps me feel comfortable in the adult business and the ability to teach people about their anatomy in a calm, respectful way.

“It’s been a rough few years, but regardless of the economy or bouts of conservatism that the South occasionally struggles with, sex always sells.”

Tami dated a man who owned Romantic Adventures, where she later decided to work.

While her boyfriend was ashamed of running a sex toy store, she was determined to make it work.

Eventually, she took it over in 2009 and turned it into a thriving business, generating an annual profit of £800,000.

She said, “In Mississippi, education or something in the medical field is the only acceptable thing for a good Southern woman to make money on.

“But in those two areas, they don’t earn as much as their male counterparts.

“I was already used to being outside the norm as a holistic practitioner, so sex toys didn’t seem to jump that far.”

The businesswoman admitted she lost friends in the process, but everything turned out for the best.

She said: “I’ve paid huge social bills, but the friends I have are real blue and aren’t worried about me fitting round or square footholes.

“They just let me fill the Tami-shaped hole in their hearts.”
