Hysterical British holidaymaker as he checks into a ‘prison-like’ room in Benidorm

A PAIR of TikTok stars who frequently holiday in Benidorm made a hilarious mistake after trying to book a cheap hotel.

Graham, from Middlesbrough, was furious after his pal Darren booked them into private accommodation on the beach.

After a long journey, the disastrous duo reached their destination, but couldn’t believe their eyes when they discovered they were going to be sharing a room with four strangers.

Eventually they found out they had booked the Benidorm Beach hostel instead of a private hotel – and blamed the debacle on Darren misplacing his glasses.

The couple shared the disaster on a TikTok livestream that left thousands baffled over their mistake and pointed out where things went wrong.

“I’ve never been to prison, but the night before I saw a TV show about HMP Durham in the ’90s and it just looked like it,” Graham said NeedToKnow.co.uk.

“It even had bars on the windows.

“I said to the receptionist, ‘I can’t sleep here – can I have a refund as my mate is just sitting there laughing at me.’

“My buddy would just say, ‘I didn’t have my glasses on when I booked it.’

“Six bunk beds all side by side with bars on the windows? Not for me.

“It was 2am at the time and we were walking around Benidorm with suitcases looking for somewhere to stay. I haven’t stayed in any hostel with any men.”

Darren, or “Dazza” as he prefers to be called, suspected something was wrong as they were on a transfer bus from the airport and couldn’t find their destination on Google.

The couple, who regularly document their trips to the tourist destination on TikTok, shared their concerns with their 141,000 followers.

Viewers were quick to spot where things had gone wrong, pointing out that they booked a hostel and not a hotel.

Graham added: “We got to Old Town but we don’t usually go there so I turned on my live stream.

“There were 1,400 people watching, so I asked if anyone had heard of it and where it was.

“Hundreds of comments were received saying there is a hostel on the beach in Benidorm, not a hotel.

“I asked my mate to show me the confirmation but he couldn’t because his phone was flat.

“Eventually a man gave us directions and when we get there it says Hostel Benidorm Beach.

“I just looked at my mate and said, ‘Are you teasing me?’

“He said, ‘I didn’t have my glasses on when I booked.’

“I got to reception which was very clean and didn’t look too bad to sleep in – well how wrong I was!

“We got into the room and there were six bunk beds and floating closets.”

Despite spending £190 for five nights at the hostel, the couple found humor in the situation and posted about their mistake on TikTok.

“You couldn’t make it up,” said one user.

“What’s he like lol,” said another.

Another user wrote: “Best live ever, ribs still hurt.”

“Couldn’t write it guys,” said another person.

Someone else wrote, “This is the local jail?”

Despite the couple’s reservations, hostels remain a popular option for people traveling the world as they’re both cheaper and more sociable.

Sharing rooms with others can not only keep vacation costs down, but is also a great way to meet new people exploring the same travel destinations.
