Hugh Jackman has the same problem with movie trailers as the rest of us

Trailers that try too hard to sell a movie’s premise and either portray it in a very misleading light or downright spoil the whole story aren’t exactly a new phenomenon, however Hugh Jackman wishes Hollywood studios had stopped using this marketing scheme already.

You can find examples of this in movie trailers from all major distributors. Recently, two people tried to sue Universal Pictures for falsely portraying Ana de Armas as a lead in Yesterday, only to find that the producers cut her out of the strip altogether. Even MCU teasers sometimes include footage or even scenes that don’t make it into the final cut, making it standard practice for a variety of show business producers.

As a creator, Hugh Jackman is also frustrated by this issue and he has decided to vent his frustration in a new profile vanity fair while promoting his new drama The son.

“The other pet tease of mine is when a trailer tries to pretend the movie is something it isn’t, in order to draw in an audience they’re afraid they won’t get if you say it is.” something else,” he said. “And I’m sure I’ll think along with you The sonit’s about getting people interested in the story, pointing out that there’s a cautionary tale – which I think is important – and hopefully not giving away too much so that the conversations that result are genuine.”
