How long until we change the clocks?

AUSTIN (KXAN) — As we work our way through October, you may be wondering when will we “fall behind” and get that extra hour of sleep.
November 6th is the magical date that Daylight Saving Time ends, so this past Sunday marked four weeks away and the countdown. The annual occurrence acts like a time shift when we set our clocks an hour earlier when we go to standard time.
Daylight Saving Time – when we set the clocks back, or “jump ahead,” an hour – began at 2 a.m. local time on March 13 for most of the country.
So we lose almost two minutes of daylight a day.
Key Dates: Sunrise and Sunsets (based on Austin, Texas)
- 14 Oct: Last sunset at 7pm or later for 2022
- Nov 5: Last day of Daylight Saving Time
- Sunrise: 7:48 am, Sunset: 6:40 pm
- November 6: First day of standard time
- Sunrise: 6:49 am, Sunset: 5:39 pm
- Nov 19: Last day with sunrise before 7am for 2022
- 25 Nov – 10 Dec: Earliest sunset of the year (5:30pm)
- Dec 21: First day of winter, shortest day length of the year (10 hours, 11 min, 38 seconds)
- 4th-15th Jan: Latest sunrise of the year (7:28 am)
What to do when winter time begins?
There are a few items on the checklist that you should do over the DST weekend.
- Set the clock back one hour if it doesn’t automatically change to standard time.
- Don’t forget the microwave clock, oven clock, sprinkler clock and car clock.
- Put new batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarm.
No time change is observed in Hawaii, most of Arizona, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands.
A poll conducted last October shows that most Americans would like to avoid switching between daylight saving and standard time, although there is no consensus on which one should be used year-round.
