Houston Traffic: Main lanes of the Gulf Freeway in La Marque were closed Friday due to a heavy truck fire

LA MARQUE, Texas (KTRK) — A massive truck fire on the Gulf Freeway could slow high school football teams, marching bands and their fans as they drive home from Friday night’s games.

All major lanes were shot down on northbound I-45 at FM 1764 in La Marque, the Texas Department of Transportation said.

Houston TranStar’s website shows the single vehicle was shifted at 8:46 p.m. to potentially reopen a lane.

As of 9 p.m., TxDOT was not yet able to give an estimate of how long the blocking will last.

The department said crews must clear debris from that stretch of road and construction work.
