Houston Traffic: A fatal accident on westbound I-10 E on northbound I-45 closes all lanes

HOUSTON, TX (KTRK) — A fatal accident has closed all westbound lanes of the I-10 East Freeway through northbound I-45 near downtown Houston.

The accident happened around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

According to Houston Police Department Sgt. David Rose, two trucks collided in the lanes leading to the ramp of I-45 South. The drivers drove at highway speed.

During the collision, one of the truck drivers lost control and eventually crossed all lanes and crashed into trees between the actual main lanes of I-10 and the ramp.

One person was trapped in the vehicle. When paramedics arrived, they found him dead.

The driver of the other pickup was not affected, Rose said, adding that a woman was also in the truck. Both are expected to be fine with minor injuries.

The authorities are working to identify the culprits.
