Houston crime: Police are searching for a man accused of robbing a woman who was paying a bill at a Lockwood grocery store

HOUSTON, TX (KTRK) — A woman in her 60s was robbed while trying to pay a bill at a grocery store in northeast Houston, and police are still searching for the suspect.

The robbery occurred around 11:20 a.m. on August 1 in the 5500 block of Lockwood Drive.

Houston police released surveillance video of the incident Monday in hopes someone might recognize the suspect.

Video shows the suspect standing behind the woman at the counter as she tries to pay a bill.

Police said the woman was holding $220 when the suspect suddenly took it from her.

He then walked out of the store and got into a 2012-2017 Hyundai Accent hatchback and fled the scene, according to HPD.

Investigators described the suspect as a black man wearing a black Calvin Klein sweater and light-colored pants.
