Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker and James Click enter another playoff run with no overtime or answers from owner Jim Crane

HOUSTON, TX (KTRK) — Each week Houston Chronicle columnist Brian T. Smith joins ABC13’s Jonathan Bruce on the live stream to discuss the hottest stories and biggest questions in esports in Houston.

In this week:

The Houston Astros have 104 wins and counting while eyeing a second straight World Series trip amid the longest stretch in franchise history. Still, manager Dusty Baker and general manager James Click are entering the playoffs with more uncertainty than ever about their future at the helm of the team.

Neither is signed after this season and Astros owner Jim Crane has opened up about his commitment to the pair as questions mount.

Smith joined Bruce to discuss the reasons and get to the bottom of the matter.

“This is a completely unique, unorthodox situation. And the only reason they don’t have renewals is because Jim Crane won’t be renewing them at the moment. More importantly, he won’t even talk about it,” Smith said.

Watch the full conversation in the video above. Also, why winless Texas is running out of optimism after a 34-24 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday at NRG Stadium.
