The Dundee-born presenter spoke about the accident following Gwyneth Paltrow’s recent court case over a skiing accident.

She recounted how she raced “towards a sharp precipice” after difficult conditions caused another skier to collide with her.

Martel wrote in The Courier: It’s bizarre reading at the best of times, but I happened to read it (the Paltrow case) the same day I was in an accident while on a family ski holiday in the Austrian Alps.

“Fortunatly nobody was hurt. The man who collided with me came from further up the slope (with the person lower down having the right-of-way), lost control and plowed into me.

“The scariest part was hurtling him into a sharp chasm, but luckily (aside from a hurt leg) everything was fine.

“The skiing conditions that afternoon were quite difficult as the sun melted the snow and I think he just lost control after his skis got caught in mud.

“He apologized and checked to see if I was ok.

“Even though I was a little shocked, I thanked him for the apology and checked to make sure he was okay.”

Martel went on to talk about how the case could go ahead to tarnish Paltrow’s reputation — even though she won.

The actress and beauty won a lawsuit brought against her by a doctor who said she caused him lifelong injuries after a skiing accident.

Paltrow, 50, received a token $1 after eight days of testimony in a counterclaim against a lawsuit brought by optometrist Terry Sanderson.

The Goop founder was sued for $300,000 by optometrist Terry Sanderson, 73, who claimed he broke ribs and suffered brain injuries in a 2016 crash on the slopes of Park City, Utah.

Initially, Sanderson sought at least $3.1 million from Paltrow, but Third Circuit Judge Kent Holmberg dismissed some of the claims made against the Iron Man actress in May 2022.

The judge ruled that the collision was not a “hit-and-run skiing accident,” as Sanderson had claimed.

For days, the actress was grilled with questions ranging from the details of the accident to alleged explicit gifts for singer Taylor Swift.

After the decision was read, both parties appeared stoic while Sanderson hung his head.
