Here’s a look at California’s 30 lighthouses – Orange County Register

California’s coastline is 3,427 miles long, and since the 1850s the state’s lighthouses have been helping sailors navigate rough seas and fog.

After hundreds of shipwrecks and shortly after California became a state, lighthouses began to appear along the coast. Between 1855 and 1856 10 lighthouses were erected, two more than originally approved.
