Happy escape for man who fell asleep in bin after socializing in Killarney – The Irish Times

A man who was socializing in Killarney and sleeping in a large rubbish bin got lucky when rubbish trucks spotted him at a critical moment.

Waste collectors, understood to be a private company, were unloading the bin in New Street, Killarney around 7am on Monday when they were fortunate to spot the sleeping man.

He was taken to the IHK for an examination, but was spared serious injuries.

Early indications were that the man could be homeless, but sources said he is from outside Killarney and came into town on Sunday to socialize. It is understood he had intended to return to Cork on Monday but opted to sleep in the big bin instead.
