‘Grease’ star Olivia Newton-John’s daughter opens up about the star’s final moments

Olivia Newton-John might have been iconic to others for her unforgettable role Fat and successful music career, but to her adult daughter Chloe Lattanzi, The star was everything.
On February 17th in an interview with the TODAY Show, Lattanzi – who appeared on the show with Newton-John’s husband John Easterling – opened up about Newton-John’s final moments before her death in August 2022 and how fan love and support has helped her grieve over the past six months.
As previously reported, Newton-John died on August 8, 2022 at the age of 73 at her ranch in California after a year-long battle with breast cancer. Describing these final moments, Lattanzi said:
“The last words she could say to me were ‘My sunshine,’ and just before she lost her ability to speak, she was joking.”
Lattanzi later expressed how special the “Hopeless Devoted to You” singer was to everyone, saying:
“I love my mother more than anything. She’s my mom, you know? She’s not Olivia Newton-John to me, but I’m so glad she was Olivia Newton-John to so many people.”
Towards the end of the interview, Lattanzi shared that the past six months following her mother’s tragic death have been a little comforting because of the constant support from fans online. While holding the Easterling’s hand, Lattanzi described the love affair to the public as a “life raft.”
“It was actually a life raft. It felt like a big hug from the universe. And I am very grateful to all the people who have reached out to us and spread their hearts and bonds.”
Since Newton-John’s death last summer, Lattanzi has shared countless tributes to her mother on her Instagram, including pictures and video clips. The last post was on February 5th. In the post, Lattanzi uploaded a picture of herself, Newton-John and a friend named Robert holding puppies.
The caption read: “I have found this gem, love you mum my special Robert and the babies. So much love here.”
