Graham Potter slams Kai Havertz for mocking Jordan Pickford at his celebration as Everton’s Chelsea
Graham Potter has slammed Chelsea star Kai Havertz after mocking Jordan Pickford with his celebration against Everton.
The German striker scored again for the Blues on Saturday night to put them ahead in a 2-2 draw with the Toffees.
After having netted from the spot, Havertz looked at Pickford and wagged his fingers with his hands to his ears and stuck out his tongue.
After the game, however, Potter wasn’t impressed with his forward’s celebration.
He said: “When players score, they have something of an out-of-body experience. I haven’t scored many myself, so I wouldn’t know.
“You should enjoy the celebration, I don’t think you need to involve the opponent. That would be my perspective.”
Havertz’s goal gave Chelsea the lead for the second time that night and it was his third in as many games.
Joao Felix put the Blues ahead with a clean finish from the post before Abdoulaye Doucoure’s header slipped over the line for Everton.
James Tarkowski’s foul on Reece James in the box allowed Havertz to score his penalty in the final period.
However, their hard work was undone in the 89th minute when Ellis Simms scored his first goal for Everton to secure a point.
The 22-year-old was able to pass Kalidou Koulibaly and sneak the ball under Kepa Arrizabalaga.
The result could be huge for the Toffees, who are now two points clear of the relegation zone.
However, it is frustrating for Chelsea, who have missed a chance to win four games straight away for the first time since October.
They remain 10th in the Premier League and Champions League qualification continues to elude them.
