His fights have been watched by gigantic viewerships in Japan, and his popularity is such that a world-famous star in Golovkin is happy to travel to Saitama to face him.

“I already have experience going to Japan,” GGG told talkSPORT.com, “I attended an event there during my amateur career.

“Of course it’s always a challenge to come to a new country and fight there.

“I’m really looking forward to fighting in Japan.”

GGG currently holds the IBF middleweight world title while Murata is the WBA champion. They will meet in a union of thongs.

Golovkin continued, “Ryota Murata is a solid fighter, he’s a former Olympic champion, he’s a current world champion and of course it’s all for a reason, he deserves it.

“And I should say that fighters of his level are the reason for organizing an event of this kind.

“It’s going to be a great event.

“Ryota Murata is the reason I come to his country to fight.

“It will be a great event for the boxing world and we look forward to it.”

It is known that Golovkin has already signed for a trilogy fight with Canelo Alvarez on September 17th.

However, he must first beat Murata and hope his Mexican rival defeats Dmitry Bivol for the fight to take place.

As a result, GGG stressed, “I think it’s too early to talk about it.

“I think the time will come and we’ll be happy to talk about it, but it’s premature.

“I think we should focus on the fight ahead.”
