FWFD: 4 pets, owners safe after Waynedale house fire

FORT WAYNE, Indiana (WANE) — The Fort Wayne Fire Department put out the flames at a home in Waynedale on Saturday.
Several fire engines and a crew of paramedics were at the scene at a two-story home on Westward Drive in the city’s southwest on Saturday afternoon.
FWFD confirmed to WANE 15 that no one was injured in the incident.
In a release later that night, firefighters said the flames erupted in the living room around 3:00 p.m. One person was inside and they made it out unharmed along with 4 pets.
Firefighters said they arrived to find “heavy fire” from several areas of the first floor. FWFD said they had the flames under control around 3:30 p.m

The press release said the home was badly damaged by flames, smoke and water.
The cause of the fire was not disclosed.
