Funeral planned for Vani Yalamanchili and her two daughters Meghana Kodali, Nikhila Kodali after fatal car accident in Waller County

WALLER COUNTY, TX (KTRK) — A funeral has been scheduled for a Bellaire mother and two daughters who died in a car accident in Waller County on Sunday.

Vani Yalamanchili and her two daughters, 20-year-old Meghana Kodali and 16-year-old Nikhila Kodali, all died in an accident at FM 2920 and Kickapoo Road.

Her father was at home and found out what had happened when police officers notified him.

Meghana, whose friends called her Meg, visited Texas A&M, and Nikhila, often called Nikhi, was a student at Bellaire High School.

The high school has placed grief counselors on campus.

“They were very valuable, all three. So bright, so smart, intelligent, they were fun to be with in every way,” said Rathna Kumar, a family friend who taught both daughters Indian classical dance.

She said Vani and her husband, an anesthetist at Texas Children’s Hospital, encouraged their daughters to pursue dance.

“She was very interested in the fact that they had to be aware of what they were born into, what they inherited in terms of culture and art,” explained Kumar. “When your time comes, your time will come. But it came too soon for her. Way too early.”

A GoFundMe has been set up to help pay for funeral arrangements.
