Frida Cinema celebrates its 9th anniversary with The Big Lebowski and Bowling – Orange County Register

Get ready to sip on a classic cocktail and maybe even do a few strikes, because Santa Ana’s Frida Cinema is celebrating its birthday this month, and they’re celebrating with the help of a seriously chilled guy.

The theater is turning nine and is celebrating the occasion on Tuesday February 21 with a screening of the Coen brothers’ 1998 comedy The Big Lebowski, which also marks a milestone as the film celebrates its 25th anniversary celebrates year.

“We wanted to do something really funny and ‘The Big Lebowski’ is an absolute cult film, but I really think it’s an incredible film,” said Logan Crow, founder and CEO of Frida Cinema.

The Santa Ana resident said the event will also include some real-life elements from the film, which follows a Belarusian chugging burnt-out slacker named The Dude who is the victim of a mistaken identity.

“We will be offering a free White Russian for any guest aged 21 and over who wants one, and we will also have a vegan White Russian,” he said.

Since bowling is The Dude’s other favorite pastime, Crow said he honors that by taking the audience on a special post-film journey.

That’s right, the crowd goes bowling at Round1 Bowling in Santa Ana.
