Free horse tips this weekend for Henri The Second, The Big Breakaway and more from Ed Quigley

Renowned horse racing tipster and journalist Ed Quigley, aka “Longshot Ted,” offers his best bets for Saturday’s TV action and picks some of the other horses that have made him sit up and take notice , which should be a cracking sporting weekend.

Saturday consultation:
Henri the Second, 1.50 Sandown, f/w – BetVictor
Investment casting, 2.25 Sandown, e/w – BetUK
Casa No Mento, 3.00 Sandown, Victory – BetUK
Lake Constance, 3.35 Sandown, Victory – BetVictor
Mucho Mas, 4.10 Sandown, f/f – William Hill

I’ll start things with HENRI THE SECOND (1.50). He’s boasting about gaining C&D form and the proving ground shouldn’t bother him.

Paul Nicholls’ Ditcheat Yard absolutely flies, and this strapping persona is making a lot of appeal. He will bear the burden of the top weight but this future pursuer is a decent champion of a horse that can handle the conditions. As the winner of the Grade 2 Winter Novices’ Hurdle at this venue, a thorough test of endurance will be just the thing for him as he returns to the scene of his best performance yet.

Harry Cobden takes the ride on the 6-year-old for the trainer, who is looking to win for a third time in four years. At around 9/1 he looks more than a fair price in my opinion and gets the each way vote.

It’s always a mesmerizing spectacle, it’s time for the Imperial Cup at 2.25am and there are plenty of every-way angles here with ground conditions bringing horses into the mix that may not be in the latest form but will get the job done can in the mud.

In my view, getting too hung up on weights and measurements can be risky, and ability to handle the ground will be the standout factor here. Ben Pauling is having a great season, and FINE CASTING must be a key player with its proven ability to handle underfoot testing.

Two of his four career wins have come on what is considered heavy soil and he has plenty of winning form left which will clearly come in handy here. He’s not completely speedless either, so it wouldn’t be a shock if he ran well and tripped with everything in his favor. Luca Morgan takes the ride on the 7-year-old, who has solid claims on both sides.

Rewind the clock to 12 months ago and Luccia stormed up at the Esher venue and it will be fascinating to see if we have a mare of this caliber in the Listed Mares Bumper (3.00).

It might just have been a Hereford bumper which she won last time out but the Nigel Twiston-Davies coached CASA NO MENTO Put on an impressive performance sliding a dozen lengths on soft ground. This bodes well for this task and she looks more than capable of making a difference at this level. Sam Twiston-Davies takes over the drive for his dad at this exciting prospect.

We had a shock as a hotpot in Exeter last month LAKE CONSTANCE fluffed up as a big favorite, but has a good chance of getting back on the road to victory here (3.35). Dan Skelton’s charge didn’t jump as well last time out in a disappointing run on much faster than ideal ground in the West Country.

However, this unexposed guy will be much happier with the ground conditions here and if he can get back to the same form that beat him by 20 lengths at Kempton late last year. Harry Skelton rides this talented individual who has the ammo in the drawer to get back to winning ways here.

I have spoken about the good form of the Ben Pauling team who are having their best season numerically since the Cotswold handler took his license and they are represented by MUCH MAS (4.10).

This is an unprotected stayer that drove through the mud at Lingfield in December to win and has since been refreshed. He really thrived when he upped the trip on this occasion and a five pound increase in weight looks perfectly fair. Luca Morgan is in the saddle and the duo can engage on promising ground at the end of the deal.

Bet on Mucho Mas at 888sport

The Cheltenham Festival is just around the corner and with the ground conditions turning softer than expected it really has thrown the cat among the pigeons, with last minute weather and connections scratching their heads.

A cut in the ground will not be a problem for trained Joe Tizzard THE BIG BREAKOUT. Has hit the bar lately but has saved endurance and love in the soil so this hectic race could show his strengths. He’s in fine form at Cheltenham and it wouldn’t be a shock if he hit the frame at a great cost.
