The foundation aims to directly and indirectly impact 20 million lives over the next decade, Flipkart said in a statement.
The foundation will continue flipkart group‘s efforts to create opportunity for ecosystem partners and convenience for stakeholders through a technology-led digital commerce model. This will enable her to drive inclusive growth with a mission to make a grassroots, large-scale and institutionalized impact on sustainable livelihoods and growth opportunities for the underprivileged in India.
The Foundation was officially launched in the state capital by Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Virendra Kumar, Union Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma and Minister of State for Rural Development Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti.
“While India abounds with opportunity, equitable growth must be promoted. To drive this forward, it is important that companies offer support to disadvantaged sections of society so that they become part of the country’s growth story,” the Social Justice and Empowerment Minister said at the launch event.
The Flipkart Foundation’s operations are grant-based, with contributions from the Flipkart Group and through the “Charity Checkout” feature available on Flipkart platforms, providing an easy and seamless way to make philanthropic donations.
The creation of the foundation is consistent with Flipkart Group’s ongoing efforts to build a nation through supporting livelihoods through the direct and indirect creation of jobs and opportunities delivered through its technology and innovation-driven marketplace for thousands of MSMEs, vendors and artisans as well as infrastructure enabled development through its supply chain and other group services and offerings, Flipkart said.
“The Flipkart Foundation is our commitment to working with diverse stakeholders to enable transformative development work for society and business. The Foundation will address multiple critical societal causes ranging from revitalizing arts and crafts to employment opportunities for the underserved and disaster relief,” said Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Flipkart.
“We have set ambitious goals for the foundation and aim to directly and indirectly impact 20 million lives in a variety of areas over the next decade by leveraging what we have learned over the years,” Kumar said in a statement.
