First picture of an elderly man ‘murdered’ in an ‘incident’ in Edinburgh when a woman rushed to hospital

A MAN allegedly ‘murdered’ in an ‘incident’ in Edinburgh has been named by police.
Charles Paul, 69, was found with serious injuries after officers were called to a property in Granton Crescent around 11.20pm on Saturday March 25.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 36-year-old woman was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
A 28-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the alleged incident.
He appeared in Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday 27 March 2023 charged with murder, aggravated assault, attempted murder and attempted perversion of justice.


In another incident, we reported how a man was arrested after police were called to a report about someone allegedly acting suspiciously near the Scottish First Minister’s official residence.
Police Scotland said they were called to the Charlotte Square area of Edinburgh, where Bute House is located.
Police said a 28-year-old man was arrested in connection with the alleged incident.
Bute House is the official residence of First Minister Humza Yousaf, who took on the role this week after winning the SNP leadership contest to replace Nicola Sturgeon.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Officers were present and a 28-year-old man was arrested in connection with the alleged incident. The police went down to check it, then came back up and pulled off the road.”
“There was no threat to the general public and investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances.”
