HOUSTON, TX (KTRK) — At least two people were killed in a shooting near a gas station in northwest Houston on Saturday morning, police said.
Around 8:10 a.m. Houston Police Department officials said they received a call from a passerby who allegedly saw a man aggressively brandishing a gun near an Exxon on the 1300 block of Neiman Lane.
Upon arrival, HPD Lieutenant Mark Contreras said the man “blurred that he killed a few people,” including his cousin.
Police arrested a man believed to be in his late 20s or early 30s and recovered a gun at the scene.
Investigators said the man was mentally impaired.
About a block from where the man was spotted, officers said they found two men and a woman who had been shot.
The woman and one of the men died from gunshot wounds, police said.
The other man who was shot was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition, Contreras said.
Police describe the second scene as about an acre of land with large shipping containers in a wooded area.
Another man who was sleeping in one of those containers at the time of the shooting was arrested, but police say the man didn’t know what happened.
Investigators believe several people live in these containers. It is unclear whether the suspect also lives there.
