A former Catholic priest caught in a threesome with two dominatrixes at the altar of a Louisiana church pleaded guilty to profanity on Monday.

Travis Clark, 39, was arrested in 2020 after a passerby claimed he saw the light come on at a Pearl River church and went to him to witness Clark and two women film themselves having sex down the aisle. Court documents show police seized sex toys, stage lights and two recording devices: a tripod-mounted camera and a cell phone.

That Times-Picayune reports the Clark will serve three years of supervised probation and pay a $1,000 fine. The institutional vandalism charge against him was dropped.

News of the threesome took the small town of Pearl River by storm when it made headlines in 2020. Archbishop Gregory Aymond called Clark’s behavior “regrettable” and said his “desecration of the altar in the church is demonic and I am angry with his actions.” Aymond had the altar removed and lit. (In the same month, another priest in the same archdiocese was credibly accused of abuse, and while he was eventually removed from public service, Aymond in particular was didn’t call him demonic.)

Sex workers Mindy Dixon and Melissa Cheng were also arrested and subjected to online harassment. dixon posted her “official fuck statement” on Twitter with a devil GIF and told the harassers it was absurd to try shame them with Scripture And tell her she’s gonna burn Help in a GoFundMe pay their legal feesCheng pointed out that “all parties involved were consenting adults.”

The witness who called police about Clark and the two women in September 2020 said he saw the (now former) priest partially nude at the altar, half-dressed in his priestly attire, with the two dominatrixes in corsets and high-heeled boots . Clark also reportedly defecated on the carpet. The witness made a video which he later showed to law enforcement.

The three adults were initially confronted with two offenses (obscenity and institutional vandalism), but the women stepped in a plea agreement counting with the state in July of this year on an offense of institutional vandalism. They agreed to testify for the prosecution at Clark’s trial. Judge Ellen Creel sentenced both to suspended sentences and two years of supervised probation.

Clark’s attorney told Creel Monday that the ex-priest does not have to serve active probation. “This situation is an incredibly specific set of facts and conditions that appear very unlikely to ever occur again,” said Michael Kennedy. He then said the two sex workers, both of whom live out of state, would be more likely to repeat the offense.

Creel said she didn’t want to treat the three adults differently and claimed Clark should serve out active probation.

The newspaper reports that Clark is scheduled to appear in civil court in January for an injunction aimed at barring him and his co-defendants from profiting from the sexual acts.
