Ex-Celtic star Kieran Tierney has a stunning EPL record despite Arsenal struggles

KIERAN TIERNEY has struggled for minutes at Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side this season following the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko last summer.

The Ukraine left-back arrived from Premier League rivals Manchester City and quickly established himself as the Spaniard’s first choice.

The former Celtic man has fallen out of favor with his last start in the top flight in December against West Ham.

Tierney is a regular off the bench for the Gunners but his lack of action has seen him move away from the Emirates in recent months.

Eddie Howes Newcastle have been closely linked with the Scotland international and they are expected to make a bid for defender and international team-mate Scott McTominay.

And when the Magpies land Tierney at the end of the season, they’ll sign the Premier League’s fastest defender!

Statistics compiled by Squawka show the ex-Hoops left-back with a top speed of 35.99mph topping the charts in terms of fastest EPL stars this season – despite a lack of serious minutes in recent months.

Manchester United’s Diego Dalot and Bournemouth’s Jack Stacey make up the top three with speeds of 35.76km/h and 35.64 respectively.

There’s another ex-Celtic defender in the top five!

Kristoffer Ajer is fourth in line with a pace of 35.53 km/h.

Meanwhile, it’s not just Newcastle interested in Tierney this summer as a sensational move to Serie A is also reportedly on the horizon.

Italian giants AC Milan are said to be interested in the 25-year-old, with scouts keeping an eye on the defender.

CalcioMercato claim manager Stefano Pioli is keen on a swap for the left-back while Theo Hernandez goes the other way.

Milan are also reported to be chasing Zinchenko and he could be the player involved in the deal instead, but Arteta is unlikely to want to part ways with the 26-year-old after his outstanding performances this season.
