Entergy is offering customers in Texas a one-time $150 credit on utility bills starting September 27 to help combat rising costs

Beginning September 27, Entergy customers in Texas will be eligible for a one-time $150 credit on their energy bill as part of a $1.3 million plan to distribute energy price hike relief nationwide.

Applications will be processed through the United Way of Greater Houston website beginning at 9 a.m., according to an Entergy press release. According to United Way’s website, applications will be closed after all slots have been filled.

Entergy, which posted adjusted earnings of $364 million in the second quarter, will also distribute $170,000 in funds to eight local organizations, including three Montgomery County organizations: Conroe Salvation Army, Montgomery County Youth Services and Humble Area Assistance Ministries.

Other actions the energy company is taking include “accelerating more than $2.9 million” in collateral deposits for over 13,000 customers, according to the press release. According to Entergy’s website, the company serves over 486,000 customers in 27 Texas counties.

Rising population and demand for natural gas led to higher energy bills across Texas this summer, according to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas. According to the 2020 U.S. Census, Montgomery County — the most populous county in the Entergy metropolitan area — was one of the ten fastest growing counties in the nation.
