driver T-Bones grain trailer in Huntington County; 2 dead

HUNTINGTON COUNTY, Indiana (WANE) — According to a news release from the Huntington County Coroner, two people died Saturday morning in a T-bone crash between a vehicle and a semi-trailer truck.

Police began investigating around 8 a.m. and found that a vehicle with four people inside was traveling northbound on CR 300 West in Jefferson Township and did not stop at the stop sign. Instead, the vehicle continued across the intersection of the road with SR 124 and struck a commercial grain trailer traveling east.

As a result of the impact, the semi-trailer truck with the grain trailer turned, the police found. The trailer then crashed into a guardrail and separated from the semi-trailer in a chain reaction, causing the grain to spill onto the road, according to the press release.

Two of the four people in the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene, the coroner said.

The other two were flown to a Fort Wayne hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the statement. Their identities have not been made public.

The driver of the truck was not injured, the statement said.

The investigation is ongoing with the Huntington County Sheriff’s Department and the Huntington County Coroner’s Office. driver T-Bones grain trailer in Huntington County; 2 dead
