Driver pleads guilty to manslaughter in Seal Beach drink-fueled accident – Orange County Register

SANTA ANA — A 34-year-old man has pleaded guilty to an alcohol-fueled accident that killed a woman in Seal Beach.
According to Lt. Nick Nicholas of the Seal Beach Police Department, the collision occurred at approximately 3:40 p.m. on November 4, 2021 at Seal Beach Boulevard and St. Andrews Drive near the Leisure World retirement community.
Paramedics from the Orange County Fire Authority were called to the scene and took three people to a hospital for medical treatment. Both drivers were taken to a hospital along with a passenger.
A woman who was driving one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the hospital, Nicholas said. She was identified as Guadalupe I in the criminal complaint.
Germany’s Juarez, from Los Angeles, pleaded Thursday guilty to manslaughter while intoxicated without gross negligence, one count each of driving under the influence causing injury and driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level above the legal limit of 0.08% . , according to court records.
Juarez also admitted sentence extensions for allegedly causing grievous bodily harm to two victims.
Juarez was due to be sentenced at the West Justice Center in Westminster on February 21.
The criminal complaint alleges that Juarez had a blood alcohol level of 0.15% and failed to stop at a red light.
