DK Metcalf once again shuts down talk of a trade away from Seattle

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf has once again ended talk of being traded away from the franchise.

The 24-year-old responded to a tweet from the JPA Football Twitter account (@jpafootball) that said teams are calling the Seahawks because the recipient may be involved in a deal. NFL insider Ian Rapoport said.

Well, the 24-year-old answered perfectly. He quoted the post on Twitter and said:

“I haven’t heard anything, per @dkm14.”

The 24-year-old tagged himself in his reply and apparently poked fun at JPA Football’s tweet.

The Seahawks have been busy this offseason. First, the franchise traded Super Bowl winner Russell Wilson for the Denver Broncos. Then future Hall of Famer linebacker Bobby Wagner was fired from Seattle before making his way to the LA Rams.

It appears that Metcalf remains a Seahawk for now; However, we know how quickly things can change in the NFL.

Which teams could use DK Metcalf should a swap occur?

Several teams could use the Star Receiver in their roster. The 24-year-old enters the final year of his rookie deal before becoming a free agent at the end of the 2022 season.

The Dallas Cowboys have been rumored to be a potential landing spot, but Jerry Jones doesn’t typically play a huge role at freelance or like to deal with star players, so Dallas likely won’t be there.

It’s likely the Seahawks don’t want Metcalf trading in the same conference. The New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs could use a different weapon for their respective quarterbacks.

Mac Jones had intermittent problems with his receiving core last season and Patrick Mahomes would like another quick wideout to replace Tyreek Hill, who was traded to the Dolphins.

The Colts could use a player like Metcalf, too. After signing Matt Ryan from Atlanta, the Colts’ reception room is a little thin on star power. The addition of the 24-year-old to complement Jonathan Taylor’s ongoing game could make Indianapolis a dangerous prospect in 2022.

Whether or not a trade happens remains to be seen, and so far the recipient has distanced himself from leaving the franchise that drafted him in 2019. DK Metcalf once again shuts down talk of a trade away from Seattle
